Man who was given a deportation notice found living illegally in north Cyprus for 2 years

A foreign national who was marked for deportation by Turkish Cypriot authorities was found still living in the island illegally.

The suspect, RS, a Pakistan national reportedly entered the country illegally despite having a deportation order against him and has been living illegally in north Cyprus for 2 years.

He was arrested in Kyrenia on Tuesday and brought to court on Wednesday.

Police said the suspect crossed from the south of Cyprus to the north on December 29, 2022, violating the military prohibited zone.

In an investigation carried out the suspect, it was determined that the suspect was imprisoned for serious damage and a deportation order was issued against him on March 15, 2021.

Police requested that he be sent to prison until trial.

The judge ordered that the suspect be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 15 days.
