Man rescued from drowning in a north Cyprus beach dies in hospital
A man who was rescued from drowning in a north Cyprus beach on Sunday has passed away.
28-year-old Mikheil Arutiunyan, who was taken to hospital last Saturday after nearly drowning at Karaoğlanoğlu Public Beach, passed away on Tuesday.
According to police statement, the 28-year-old young man who was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia could not be saved despite all interventions.
The police investigation into the incident continues.
Mikheil Arutiunyan, 28, was in danger of drowning at Karaoğlanoğlu Public Beach when he was rescued by citizens on the beach. The incident happened at around 12:15pm on Saturday.
While
Arutiunyan was swimming in the sea about 50 meters from the shore, he
was swept away by the waves. He was rescued by citizens on the beach and
brought to the shore.
He was taken to the the Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia and later transferred to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia and kept under observation in the intensive care unit.
