Man rescued from drowning in north Cyprus beach

A man who was in danger of drowning in a beach in north Cyprus was rescued on Saturday.

Mikheil Arutiunyan, 28, was in danger of drowning at Karaoğlanoğlu Public Beach when he was rescued by citizens on the beach.

The incident happened at around 12:15pm on Saturday.

While Arutiunyan was swimming in the sea about 50 meters from the shore, he was swept away by the waves. He was rescued by citizens on the beach and brought to the shore.

He was taken to the the Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia and later transferred to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia and kept under observation in the intensive care unit.

Police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
