8 immigrants and 4 children who entered Northern Cyprus illegally arrested and detained by the police
Eight immigrants, 3 women, 5 men, and 4 children, including a one-year-old baby who entered Northern Cyprus from Southern Cyprus illegally in the Derinya region were detected in the military restricted area and arrested.
They were brought before a Lefkosia district court on Monday on charges of violating the military prohibited zone.
A social worker was also present for the refugees who were brought to court with their children.
Police told the court that 8 immigrants, 3 women and 5 men, entered Northern Cyprus from Southern Cyprus illegally with their children on July 27.
The suspects were identified by soldiers on duty in the military prohibited zone in the Deryneia region.
Police stated that an investigation had been launched and requested that the refugees be detained for 3 days.
The judge, who evaluated the testimony in court ordered the refugees to remain under police surveillance for 3 days.
Meanwhile, it was learned that women and children will be kept in the Yıldız Student Dormitory, and men will be kept in the police cell.
