Two injured in accident on Iskele – Famagusta road: Driver refused to provide sufficient breath for alcohol test
Two people were injured, one of whom suffered bone fractures, in an accident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the Iskele – Famagusta main road.
According to police statement on the incident, the accident occurred at around 1:00am on Tuesday June 24 on the Iskele – Famagusta highway when a 27-year-old driver, FY lost control of his vehicle as he approached the Lions Garden roundabout.
Due to his carelessness, he lost of the steering, hit the roadside curb, went off the road, and fell into a 4-metre-deep embankment which resulted in the vehicle bursting into flames and was completely burned, rendering it unusable.
The driver along with his passenger, 25-year-old AM, were injured in the accident and taken to Famagusta State Hospital for treatment.
AM was admitted to the Orthopaedic ward for treatment of fractures in her right hip and left collarbone while FY was discharged after receiving first aid treatment.
FY was arrested for refusing to provide
sufficient breath and blood samples for an alcohol test.
