Three teenagers arrested for robbery and serious assault in Lefkosia

Three young people, one of whom was a woman who attacked and robbery an individual of his belongings in Lefkosia on Saturday night has been detained by the police.

The suspects, named only as EŞ, 18, AK, 18 and NM, 22, who are all Turkish national, at around 1:30am on Saturday June 22 attacked an individual named LK, 25 who was walking in Yurdaışık Street in Lefkosia.

EŞ and AK attacked him, severely beat him, ripped off his t-shirt and damaged the black I-phone he was holding.

They were arrested following a complaint and taken to court on Sunday on charges of "Robbery, Intentional Damage, and Assault".

Police told the court that the suspects stole the victim's I-phone 11 mobile phones and line.

Police said the incident which was subsequently detected in a camera footage showed the moment the suspects approached the victim while the third suspect NM, a resident of Famagusta, who was waiting for them in a vehicle drove away from the scene of the incident.

Police said that the security camera footage at and around the scene was examined and that it was still being examined, and that the suspects were arrested on the same date in accordance with a pending order obtained from the Lefkosia District Court.

Police EŞ and AK in their first verbal statements admitted that they left the I-phone 11 brand mobile phone at a men's barber shop in Lefkosia, and the mobile phone in question was detected and seized as evidence. .

Police stated that, in line with the verbal statements of the suspects, a search was carried out at the residence of the suspect AK between 11.25pm and 11.40pm on Saturday, in accordance with the court order, and the clothes they were wearing during the incident and the vehicle were detected and seized as evidence.

Further investigation by the police revealed that the suspect NM was detected at his residence in Famagusta and arrested in accordance with the Pending Warrant. 

The suspect AK gave a voluntary statement and this voluntary statement will be confirmed and denied. 

Police stated that the matter is a serious one and the statements will be taken and camera footage to be watched and requested that they be detained in police custody for 3 days for investigation purposes.
