Plane landed on wrong runway at Ercan Airport
An AJET aircraft operating the Ankara-Ercan route mistakenly landed on the wrong runway at Ercan Airport on Thursday.
The incident, attributed to pilot error, has prompted an investigation. The flight, identified by its number VF555, was supposed to land on runway ’11R’ but instead landed on ’11L’.
The Airbus A320 aircraft registered as TC-LUK was observed approaching the wrong runway, prompting Ercan Air Traffic Control to issue a go-around instruction. Despite receiving this instruction approximately 50-60 feet above ground, the aircraft continued its descent and landed on the wrong runway.
According to information obtained by Kibris Postasi, an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the incident, which was caused by pilot error.
