New developments emerged in KSTU fake diploma scandal

New developments continue to emerge in the fake diploma scandal at the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU), Kibris Postasi reports.

The name of MHP Mersin Deputy Levent Uysal is at the centre of the incident, with allegations that he brought people close to the university’s administration and formed a special technical team to erase school records before January.

Levent Özadam, a columnist for Kibris Postasi, wrote in his column that Levent Uysal was appointed as the fully authorised head of the school and that Mehmet Altuntaş confirmed in court that school records were erased.

Özadam noted that Altuntaş did not provide information about who gave the order and who erased the records.

Additionally, the reason why the records were erased at a university with nearly 4,000 students remains a significant question mark. It is also alleged that the erased records included information indicating that Uysal and his son were students.

Serdal Gündüz, the director and one of the shareholders of the school, who is currently being remanded in custody, is viewed as one of the key figures in the incident.

It was also claimed that a woman working as a secretary in one of the university’s faculties knew a great deal and witnessed the events but had not been asked to testify.

In his column, Levent Özadam emphasised that those responsible for this incident must be held accountable in court. Özadam wrote, “Whether the responsible individuals are deputies or others, they must eventually account for the frauds committed and pay the price… There’s no getting away with it! Do I make myself clear? Very soon, we will also expose the adventures of the friend nicknamed ‘Tubby’ in Turkey from here”.
