Naveed Akbar's relatives stage a protest demanding for justice after soldier refused to appear in court
Naveed Akbar's relatives and friends organized a protest for justice after Turkish Armed Forces soldier Mehmet Eren Erdoğan, who caused his death in a drunk driving incident, was not brought to court on Tuesday.
The accident which claimed the life of 26-year-old Naveed Akbar, one of two individuals struck by a drunk driver, Aycan Taliman occured on Ecevit Street in Gemikonağı at around 2:00 am on Saturday June 15.
Naveed Akbar's family applied to the Pakistani Embassy in Ankara and requested assistance in transporting the body to Pakistan and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Turkish Armed Forces soldier Mehmet Eren Erdoğan, who was determined to be drunk, hit Naveed Akbar, who was sitting by the sea, leading to his death.
Akbar's autopsy determined that he died as a result of multiple fractures and internal bleeding. However, Mehmet Eren Erdoğan was released and handed over to his unit in Doğancı village.
The grieving fiancée, Aycan Taliman, asked Akbar's family and relatives for support from the embassy in delivering his body to Pakistan and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
