Four students arrested for drugs: 70 grams of jute type drugs seized
Four students were arrested by the police on Tuesday after drugs were found in their vehicle and apartment during traffic inspection in Lefkosia and Güzelyurt.
The suspects were identified and arrested after police detected something suspicious in a vehicle parked Küçük Kaymak region of Lefkosia at around 12.30pm on Tuesday June 4
According to police report, during a search conducted against the suspect named only as PTK, 29, a Zimbabwean, a substance believed to be jute-type narcotic was detected in his possession and taken as evidence. Two more students, CMP 24, a Cameroonian and ABM 35, a Libyan were also arrested for drug possession.
They were brought to court on Wednesday on charges of "taking, giving and possessing illegal drugs".
Police told the court that the suspect PTK, who was detected in a suspicious state in a vehicle by a team from the Crime Prevention Branch, was found to be in possession of approximately 2 grams of jute-type narcotic substance.
During investigation conducted against the suspect, it was determined that he bought the drug in his possession from one CMP. During a search on CMP's house, 68 grams of jute-type narcotic was found and taken as evidence.
Police noted that ABM, who was detected at the same address as CMP, was arrested.
Police explained that the CMP who was questioned said that he bought 84 grams of the drug on June 3, gave 2 packages to PTK and 8 packages to other persons.
Police noted that the narcotic substances would be sent for analysis and that the people to whom the suspect CMP gave drugs were being searched for, and requested that all 3 suspects be detained for 2 days.
In a similar development, one AKB, 23 was arrested following a search carried out on him as a result of his suspicious movements.
The suspect, AKB, who was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for control by the traffic teams of the Güzelyurt Police Department on Manisa Boulevard in Güzelyurt on Tuesday was found with a substance believed to be jute type drug weighing approximately 1 gram.
