Drugs found in vehicle and residence of suspect
A man who was found with drugs in his vehicle and residence in Lefkosa following a police search was brought to court on Saturday.
The suspect named only as COP, a Nigerian was stopped for search at around 7:45pm in Haspolat on Friday June 7 when police found drugs in his vehicle.
He was taken to court on Saturday charged with possession of drugs.
Police told the court that the suspect was stopped for search after they noticed the vehicle's suspicious movement.
Police said jute weighing approximately one gram was found during the search carried out on him.
Police said a substance believed to be jute type drug weighing approximately 21 grams wrapped in 21 foil papers and 2,100 TL in cash obtained from drug sales were found in his possession in a subsequent search carried out in the suspect's residence in Küçük Kaymaklı.
During further investigation, police stated that in the statements made by the suspect, he stated who he bought the drug in question and was being searched for.
Police said the evidence taken should be sent for analysis, and requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days for the purpose of investigation in the first place, so that the investigation could be carried out safely.
