Amnesty for illegal residents in north Cyprus will be approved by the parliament on July 3

Amnesty for illegal residents living in North Cyprus will be approved by the TRNC parliament on July 3 when the assembly shall convey for an extraordinary meeting. 

This was made known by Famagusta Independent Deputy Ayşegül Baybars during parliamentary session on Tuesday June 24.

Baybars who was speaking on the issue of "Population, Indifference, Amnesty and Uncontrolled Order, criticized the bill saying ''Where Does This Government Want to Go?"

Stating that the parliament will hold an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, July 3, Baybars said "The Government will convene on July 3 to issue an amnesty for all those living illegally in this country, which is a serious problem against the country's labor market, regardless of how they entered this country."

Pointing to the last general Amnesty issued on November 3, 2021, Baybars noted that, that amnesty was described as the "last amnesty" for 15 years but the government renegade on its decision and issued another Amnesty within 1 year.

The TRNC Parliament will go on summer recess today (June 25) after its audit duty and will open the new legislative year in the first week of October.

Meanwhile, committees in the Parliament will continue to work during the summer months. The Parliament is also expected to hold an extraordinary session to discuss the laws on its agenda.
