Woman who got a university Master diploma in 4 months faces trial in north Cyprus
A woman who was arrested for obtaining a diploma from the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ) within a short period of registration for the program has been released on bail.
The individual, named only as DA was arrested within the scope of the ongoing "fake diploma" investigation at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University.
She was brought to court in Lefkosia on Friday, May 3.
Police told the court that in the complaint made by the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University officials, although the suspect's first registration was made on March 21, 2023, it was shown as if it was made on March 17, 2022.The police stated that the suspect was registered for a master's degree with thesis from the Department of Educational Management and Supervision, but the registration was deleted from the system on November 28, 2023, and she was re-registered in the non-thesis section of the same department on July 6, 2023.
Police stated that the suspect graduated from the department in question on July 19, 2023 and was given a master's degree.
Police said the suspect who is an English teacher at a public school presented the fake diploma to the Ministry of Education and handed over the transcript to the police.
Police stated that the suspect claimed that she was took exams and classes. The police noted that the necessary investigation was carried out regarding this statement.
Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge released the suspect on bail on the condition that she deposits a cash guarantee of 75,000 TL, bring two reputable TRNC citizens to sign a surety bond worth 750 TL, and report to the nearest police station two days a week. She was also banned her from going abroad until her trial.
