Student assistant arrested at Ercan airport for issuing fake student certificate

An international student who works with a university in north Cyprus has been arrested by the police after it was alleged that she prepared a fake student certificate.

The student named only as KU works as a student assistant in student affairs department at the Rauf Denktaş University located in Lefkosia.

She was arrested and taken to the Lefkosia district court on Monday May13.

Police said KU was arrested for allegedly preparing a fake student certificate. 

Police said on May 8, 2024, the police found that KU made a fake statement in the name of a student named only as FRM, who was studying at the same school, upon the request of one IAO, who also worked in student affairs at the same school. 

The suspect was caught while leaving Ercan Airport on Sunday May 12. 

Police stated that the investigation is continuing and that it will be investigated whether the suspect paid money to obtain the fake document. 

Noting that the investigation was continuing, the police requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
