Man who sexually abused two kids in north Cyprus found to living in the country illegally
A man who was arrested for allegedly harassing two children aged 6 and 7 sexually was later determined to be living illegally in north of Cyprus.
The suspect, named only as OT, 49, a Turkish national reportedly committed the crime of sexual abuse against two children aged 6 and on Osman Pasa Street in Lefkosia on the evening of Wednesday May 15.
The suspect was identified and arrested in the Walled City of Lefkosia following a complaint made on May 16.
The suspect was taken to the Lefkosia court on Friday on charges of "Sexual Abuse of a Child and Being Without Residence Permit".
Police said cameras at the scene of the crime were examined, the events before, during and after the incident were seen very clearly, and the suspect was clearly seen committing the crime.
The police stated that the suspect, who was arrested and investigated, was found to have been residing in the north of Cyprus without permit for 204 days, since October 25, 2023.
Police said that the statements of the girls regarding the issue were taken in the presence of social workers and that the investigation was continuing.
Police said it would be investigated whether the suspect was involved in another crime, that there were statements to be taken, and that the crime caused outrage and requested that he be detained for 3 days in the first instance.
