Man found living in north Cyprus illegally detained for 20 days

A man who was found living in north Cyprus without a resident permit has been sent to prison before trial.

The suspect named only as AH, a Pakistan national was identified and  arrested in Ceyhan Street, Dumlupınar Street in Lefkosia at around 11.10am on Sunday May 26 during checks carried out by the Crime Prevention Branch.

He was taken to the Lefkosia district court on Monday.

Police told the court that the suspect, was found to have been living ilegally in north Cyprus for 543 days, since November 30, 2022.

Noting that the investigation was completed, police demanded that the suspect to be detained in prison for a period not exceeding 20 days until his cases are heard.
