Man caught with a metal grinder containing drugs in Ercan airport

A man who was detected with a drug-containing metal grinder while passing through the X-ray device at Ercan airport, will remain in custody for 2 days as part of investigation.

The suspect, UCB, a Turkish national was arrested on the evening of Tuesday, April 30 while he was about to exit the country via the Ercan airport. 

Police in a statement said he was detected with a drug-containing metal grinder while passing through the X-ray device at the entrance of the departure lounge of the Airport.

He was taken to court on Wednesday, May 1.

Police told the court that a metal grinder branded Amsterdam, believed to contain drug residue, and rolling papers were found in the suspect's suitcase and were seized as evidence. 

Police said investigation was initiated against the suspect caught in the act, and the evidence would be sent for analysis and requested that the suspect be detained for 2 days for investigative purposes.
