Man assaults girlfriend for trying to break up with him

Man assaults his girl friend in Lefkosia north Cyprus for trying to break up with him.

The incident took place in Cihangir when the suspect, CN, allegedly hit his girlfriend who wanted to break up with him and sent her threatening messages.

He was arrested and brought to the Lefkosia district court on Tuesday May 14. 

Police said the suspect threatened violence in other to continue his relationship with his girlfriend, CU, who wanted to break up with him between March and May 2024.

Police said the suspect beat CU, threatened her repeatedly via WhatsApp acting against the electronic communications law. 

Police said there were many allegations in the statement given by CU which the suspect did not accept.

Police noted that both the suspect's and CU's mobile phones were taken and announced that a DATA Examination would be carried out.

Police requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days for investigation purposes.
