Man arrested for fondling his genital in front of a female dormitory in Lefkosia

A man who was reported for indecent behavior in front of a student dormitory in Lefkosia was arrested by the police. 

The incident happened at around 3:45pm on Monday May 13 in front of a student dormitory in Lefkosia.

The suspect, SY, a Turkish man was arrested and taken to court on Tuesday May 14 for indecent behavior.

Police said SY was reported for touching his own genitals and making inappropriate movements when he saw a 21-year-old female student looking out of the window of a university dormitory.

Police said the suspect, who was sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the parking area on the side of the dormitory on a university campus, saw a  female student named BY, who was looking out of the window of the dormitory, and started to touch his private organ through the tracksuit he was wearing. 

Police said there was a video footage taken regarding the issue and that the complainant's phone was sent to the DATA review expert to obtain this video. 

Noting that the part of the investigation that the suspect could influence has been completed, police requested that the suspect be released on bail. 

In his statement regarding the incident, the suspect defended himself saying that he was cleaning up the biscuit crumbs that had spilled on him.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge released the suspect on bail on the condition that he deposits a cash guarantee of 20,000 TL, bring two guarantors of TRNC citizens to sign a surety bond worth 300,000 TL, report to the nearest police station once a week and banned from going abroad.
