Iranian couple returned back to north Cyprus for traveling with fake Danish passports

An Iranian couple who left north Cyprus with fake Danish passports but were detected in Istanbul on the same day and sent back to TRNC along with their 2-year-old baby were held under police surveillance in a student dormitory for another 7 days.

The couple, BS and FG left north Cyprus at around 12:45am on April 30 together with their 2-year-old daughter en-route to Istanbul to get on a connecting flight to Germany.

They were held in Istanbul after it was determined that they were traveling with a fake passport and sent back to Cyprus on the same day.

They were arrested on their return to north Cyprus and taken to the Lefkosia district court.

They were brought back to court again on Friday.

Police told the court that the suspects were arrested on charges of "impersonating someone else and obtaining records through false behavior".

Police said the fake Danish passports were issued in the names of Edison Isaklları, Aynur Akdoğan Cartıllı, Lıva Cartıllı Akdoğan, which they had obtained for 6,000 Euros from a person whose name they did not know, in order to go to Germany.

Police said they left north Cyprus to Turkey with their own Iranian passports but were detected by the immigration police at Istanbul Airport.

Police stated that an investigation was launched against the suspects who were taken over and arrested.

In their statements, the suspects said that they received the passports from a person whose name they did not know in TRNC.

The passports were seized by the Istanbul police and will be sent to the country. The police said that the investigation was continuing and that there was camera footage to be examined, and requested that the suspects be detained for 7 days.

The judge who evaluated the testimony given in court, ordered the suspect BS to remain in the police cell and FG and her 2-year-old daughter to remain under police supervision in the student dormitory for 7 more days.
