Four students arrested for faking student letter and transcript in exchange for money

A student who faked a university student certificate and sent it to another in exchange for money has been detained by Turkish Cypriot police.

The suspect, identified only as IAO, 33, a Nigerian student was accused of forging a student certificate of a university located in Lefkosia and sending it to a person in exchange for money.

The incident took place in Kyrenia on April 30.

It was determined that the suspect, after forging the student certificate of a university operating in Lefkosia, sent it to a person via WhatsApp and fraudulently obtained 291,200 Nigerian Naira from the said person.

Police noted that the suspect named IOA was arrested and the investigation continues.

In a similar development, two individuals who used the fake transcripts in order to enroll in a university in Kyrenia were arrested.

The incident that took place in Kyrenia on March 13.

In order to enroll in university, 20-year-old GMMB and 22-year-old CMK obtained fake transcripts showing that they had completed the preparatory program at another university in order to renew their registration for the 2023-2024 session.

The police stated that it was determined that the fake documents in question were obtained from the suspect named 26-year-old KKE.

Police stated that the suspects put the documents into use by giving them to the university they wanted to enroll in.

Stating that the people in question were arrested, the police noted that the investigation continues.
