Earthquake felt in Istanbul and Gaziantep on Monday
An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 was felt in Istanbul early Monday morning.
In an announcement by Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), it was stated that there was an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude in the Marmara Sea, 25.10 kilometers off the coast of Istanbul's Büyükçekmece district, at around 12.38am on Monday May 27.
Kandilli announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 3.9.
In a similar development, a light magnitude 2.0 earthquake hit 13.9 km (9 mi) away from Gaziantep, Gaziantep, Turkey, in the morning of Monday, May 27, 2024 at 10.55 am local time (Europe/Istanbul GMT +3).
The quake had a very shallow depth of 7 km (4.3 mi) and was not felt (or at least not reported so)
