3 people detained for 20 days for living illegally in north Cyprus
The men who were arrested for living in north Cyprus without a resident permit were detained for 20 days on court order.
The suspects AH, SA and AZ, all from Pakistan were identified and arrested at around 12:20am on Tuesday May 7 on Mustafa Kemal Street in Alayköy.
They were taken to court on Wednesday.
Police told the court that during immigration checks of the suspects, it was determined that AH, 26 has been living illegally in north Cyprus for 467 days as of January 2023, SA for 218 days since November 2, 2023, and AZ for 553 days as of November 1, 2022.
Police requested that the investigation initiated against the suspects was completed and that they be given a guarantee that the court deems appropriate, taking into account their legal status.
The judge who evaluated the testimony, ordered the suspects to remain in prison for a period not exceeding 20 days, in order to ensure that they are ready for their trial.
