Woman arrested by Turkish Cypriot police for accepting fake diploma from KSTU
As part of the fake diploma investigation carried out at KSTU, a woman who allegedly received a fake diploma from the school was arrested and detained for 3 days.
The suspect, AM, a Russian national who was previously arrested in Kyrenia for
using botox without the permission of the medical association and was
arrested on April 25.
The suspect is accused of receiving a fake diploma from the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU). She was brought to the Lefkcosia District Court on Friday.
Police told the court that they received information that in the complaint made by the officials of Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University, the suspect was shown as having registered on September 10, 2019, but on November 4, 2023, 67 course entries were made and he graduated from the faculty of nursing in one day.
The police reported to the court that they went to the suspect's house on April 25, her husband opened the door, and he told the police that she had gone shopping. However, during the search at the house, the suspect was found in the wardrobe.
Police stated that they could not find a diploma or transcript during the search at the house. When questioned, the suspect, admitted in her statement that she gave her diploma to her neighbor because she was afraid.
Police said that the diploma given to the neighbor was found and was taken as evidence.
As a result of the investigation, police recorded that the suspect prepared a fake document on December 11, 2023, applied to the Turkish Cypriot Midwives and Nurses Association and became a member.
The police found that the suspect worked as a nurse with the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University for 20,000 TL per month.
The police requested an additional three-day detention in order to investigate whether the suspect interfered with any patients and how much criminal income he obtained.
