Two arrested for spending fake US Dollars in a casino

Two people who tried to gamble with fake US Dollar in a casino in Lefkosia were arrested and detained by the police.

The suspects, İ.K., 47 and V.Ç., 44 were at a casino located in Girne street, in Lefkosia at around 7:15pm on Wednesday as customers.

They were found to have spent fake 100 US Dollars without serial numbers at the casino.

They were arrested following a complaint and taken to the Lefkosia District Court on Thursday on charges of "Saving Counterfeit Banknotes" and "Putting Counterfeit Money into use".

Police investigation showed that the suspect İ.K. was living in north Cyprus illegally.

The police requested that the suspects be detained in police custody for a day as there may be statements to be taken, camera footage to be examined and signs to be found.
