Four men who robbed a residence in north Cyprus for 8 months arrested

Four men were arrested in Çatalköy, north Cyprus for stealing various items including electronics from a residence over the period of 8 months.

The suspects, RB, EK, İ.G. and I.G. committed the theft between August 2023 and April 18, 2024.

They were identified and arrested within the scope of the investigation launched into the theft of clothes, electronics and several other goods from a residence in Çatalköy.

Police said two of the suspects, EK, 19 and RB, 17 were arrested during the control carried out by the traffic teams affiliated with the Kyrenia Police Department on Mete Adanır Street in Kyrenia on Monday, April, 22.

During the check made on the vehicle documents, it was determined that the license plate of the vehicle in question was not found. The one found was determined to belong to another vehicle.

Further investigation showed that they took the vehicle from the garden of a residence belonging to a person in Çatalköy without permission from the owner, changed the license plate with that of another vehicle they had previously stolen.

They also entered the residence on different dates during the night by deliberately damaging the window of the residence from which they stole the vehicle.

It was stated that they also stole various jewellery, clothing, electronics, household and white goods and alcoholic drinks.

Some of the items stolen from the house were "129 miscellaneous men's clothing items, 3 creative brand speakers, 2 metal head massagers, 1 Sony brand Playstation 2, 1 PlayStation 2 remote control, 1 brown gramophone made of wood, 1 precision scale, 1 wall clock, 1 Arçelik brand electronic device, 1 Toros brand kettle base, 1 converter cutter, 1 rummy set, 1 claw, 1 Otello brand plastic, 1 piece average 45 cm. It was stated that "electrical cable, 1 yellow screwdriver, 1 SGS brand padlock, 1 silver brand shoe polish, and 1 merit casino lighter". They were taken as evidence. 

Police said the persons in question, as well as two others, İ.G., 19 and İ.G., 19, who were found to be connected to the issue, were arrested.

Police stated that the suspects gave voluntary statements and confessed their crimes following their interrogation.

The police stated that the investigation initiated regarding the issue was continuing, that there were statements to be taken, camera footage to be examined, and also that there were missing signs, and requested that the suspects be detained in the police for 3 days in the first place.
