13 kilograms of drugs detected in passenger luggage at Ercan Airport

A passenger who tried to enter north Cyprus with luggage full of cannabis was arrested at Ercan Airport on Sunday.

According to a statement by the Police Press Office, the passenger, named only as MB, 29 was caught with the banned substance at around 9:00am on Sunday during check made by the Customs and Revenue Administration officers.

Police said a substance believed to be jute type narcotic, weighing approximately 13 kilograms in half-kilo packages (26 packages in total), was found in the suspect's suitcase.

The substance was taken as evidence and the suspect arrested.
