Following her confession, her husband was released 9 months later, and the court decided to arrest her.
Police stated that the woman was in the country with a residence permit and requested that she be sent to prison. The police also stated that the suspect did not know that what she did was a crime, but now that she learned that she had committed a serious crime, she could escape prosecution if not detained. Her lawyer, who objected to the request for pre-trial detention, said his client had been living in TRNC with her family since the age of 2, that she had two children aged 3 and 5 and that she would not escape. The defense also had the court hear three people who could vouch for the suspect.
The judge who evaluated the testimony given in court, stated that the suspect misled justice by giving false testimony and caused a person to be deprived of his freedom for 9 months, and ordered her to be sent to prison for a period not to exceed 30 days until trial.
