Police raids club, arrest man for living in north Cyprus without a resident permit
An Indian national who was found to be living in north Cyprus without a resident permit has been sent to prison for 20 days until trial.
SM, was identified and arrested by Turkish Cypriot police in a night club operating in Alayköy at around 10.00pm on February, 27.
He was taken to court and sent to prison.
Police in a court statement said the suspect who was detected in a nightclub operating in Alayköy was determined to have been living illegally in the country since April 27, 2023.
Police noted that the necessary investigation was carried out against the suspect who was arrested with force.
Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge stated that the crime of residence permit is a crime that carries a prison sentence of up to 6 months and is becoming more common day by day, and ordered the suspect to be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 20 days.
