Man dies in accident in Lefkosia industrial zone after hitting a stray dog

A 27-year-old man passed away following a traffic accident that occurred in the Lefkosia Organized Industrial Zone after hitting a stray dog.

The unfortunate accident happened at around 4:20pm on Monday, March, 18 on the Lefkosia Organized Industrial Zone.

According to police' report on the incident, Ömer Gezer, 27 was driving  on the 3rd Street in the Organized Industrial Zone in Lefkosia from the north direction of the road to the south direction when he hit a stray dog ​​that ran onto the road. 

The impact made his vehicle to leave the road before hitting the right side of a vehicle parked on the left side of the road. It went further and hit the rearview mirror of another vehicle which was also parked on the left of the road and then overturned on its right side on the road.

Ömer Gezer, who was seriously injured as a result of the accident, was taken to Dr.Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia and despite all the interventions made, he could not be saved and passed away.

The dog, which was hit by was reported to have died at the scene of the accident.

The police investigation into the fatal accident continues.
