Customs officers in south Cyprus find 43kg of drugs in suitcases forgotten in Larnaca Airport
Authorities at Larnaca Airport in south Cyprus this week intercepted an amount of narcotics concealed within two unclaimed suitcases.
The discovery, made on Thursday, Feb., 29 revealed 42 kilograms and 950 grams of khat, a plant substance classified as a narcotic.
The suitcases, which had arrived from an overseas destination on February 25, 2024, went unclaimed by any individual.
However, upon their scheduled return journey, customs officials conducted an inspection, uncovering the illicit substances hidden within.
The seized narcotics have since been handed over to the Larnaca District Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) for further investigation.
