Car crashed into pedestrians in Kyrenia: 1 person died, 2 injured

One person died and two others wounded in an accident that occurred in Kyrenia this afternoon.

According to report, the accident occurred on Bedrettin Demirel Street in Kyrenia at around 5.10pm on Saturday, March 23 when a car hit pedestrians walking on the sidewalk.

Two  people were injured and 1 person died as a result. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Cihan Yuksel.

According to police report, the driver of the car, Gökmen GÜNİKEN, 20 was driving very fast and carelessly when he lost control of the steering and went out of the road to the left side of the road. 

He hit Cihan YÜKSEL, Büşra YAVUZ, 21 and Begüm DÖŞKAYA, 21 who were walking on the sidewalk.

Cihan YÜKSEL died at the scene. Büşra YAVUZ, who was seriously injured in the accident, and Begüm DÖŞKAYA, who was slightly injured, are still receiving treatment at the Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia.

The treatment of the driver of the vehicle, Gökmen GÜNİKEN, who was slightly injured in the accident, and Mehtap Kutat, who was a passenger in the vehicle, continues at the Dr. Akçiçek Hospital in Kyrenia.

Police are investigating the accident.
