Woman caught trying to pass an unidentified substance to her detained lover in north Cyprus
A young woman who tried to pass an illegal substance to his boyfriend in prison has been detained by Turkish Cypriot police.
The woman ŞŞ, a Turkish Cypriot at around 11.30am on Friday last week was at the courtyard of the Lefkosia District Court to see her boyfriend who had bee paraded in court when she hid an unidentified liquids in piece of gloves into the hood of the coat worn by her boyfriend.
She was arrested by the police and brought to court
Police in a court statement said the woman's lover who had just appeared in court on charges of "robbery and threats of violence" was being transferred to the Lefkosia central prison when the woman attempted to put a liquid, the nature of which has not yet been determined, inside two pieces glove, into the hood of the coat worn by the man, with the intention of getting it into the prison.
She was arrested at that point. Police said the liquids were banned substances.
Police said the liquids in the gloves were sent to the state laboratory to determine the content, but the results have not been released yet.
Her detention period was extended by four more days on Monday following the completion of the initial 3 days detention order she was given in court last week.
