Student arrested for suspicious behavior in north Cyprus caught with cannabis

A man who was considered suspicious in Lefkosia were found with drugs during a search carried out on him.

The suspect, named only as DA, a foreign student in Cyprus at around 5:00pm on Wednesday, Feb., 14 was found walking suspiciously Ortaköy by a team of police patrol. 

Two grams of jute type drug was found in the suspect's trouser pocket during a search carried out on him.

He was transferred to the narcotics department and taken to court on Thursday, Feb., 15.

Police told the court that the suspect was identified and arrested by the police after he was seen exhibiting suspicious behavior.

Police stated that the suspect confessed to the crimes during his interrogation and said that he bought the drug to smoke in January 2024.

Police stated that the investigation was continuing, that there was a wanted person and statements to be taken, and that the drugs would be sent for analysis, and requested that the suspect be detained for one day in the first place.
