Nigerian man dies in north Cyprus following a brief illness

A 42-year-old man was reported dead by Turkish Cypriot police following after he was taken to the hospital following a sudden at his residence in Lefke on Sunday.

The deceased, Imaobong Godwin Akpan, 42, a Nigerian resident in Lefke reportedly fell ill at around 1:15pm while at his residence on Sunday, Feb., 25.

He was rushed to Cengiz Topel State Hospital in Lefke and then referred to the Lefkosia State Hospital.

He died at around 3:20pm despite all interventions to save him. 

His blood and tissue samples were taken in an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The police investigation continues.
