Man to face trial for assaulting wife in north Cyprus
A man who assaulted his wife wife because she refused to sleep with him was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police.
The suspect MK, a Uzbekistan national at around 7:00am on January, 28 came home and entered the bedroom of their residence located in Göçmenköy.
Police said he severely beat his wife named NK following a verbal argument that broke out between them on the grounds that they were not sleeping together.
He was arrested and taken to court on charges of serious assault.
The incident came to the police's notice on Thursday and an arrest warrant was obtained against him.
He was detected and arrested on the same day.
Police said that in the medical report provided, it was learned that the complainant had ecchymosis in various parts of her face and head.
Police stated that the suspect admitted his crime in a written statement of the case and was in the country with a work permit. Police requested the court to release him on bail.
The judge who evaluated the case ordered the suspect to be released on bail on the condition that a cash guarantee of 20,00 TL is deposited and a reliable guarantor, a TRNC citizen, signs a surety bond worth 200,000 TL.
