Three students sent to prison for a period of 20 days for living in north Cyprus without a residence permit
Three students who were arrested after being found to be living in north Cyrus without a resident permit, were sent to prison for a period not exceeding 20 days.
The three students, E.S.K, A.D and A.N were taken to court on Tuesday.
Police told the court that the students were identified and arrested during patrol by the Lefkcosia Police Department CÖŞ branch on Atatürk Street in Gönyeli at around 7.30pm on January 5.
It was determined that E.S.K had been living in the country with out a resident for a total of 402 days since November 9, 2022.
The suspect in his statement said that he could not attend school because he did not have money.
Police said he was taken to court and a 2-day detention order was issued for him, and the necessary investigation was carried out during this period.
Police said the suspects A.D and A.N were detected in suspicious condition on Atatürk Street in Gönyeli on January 7, 2024. During immigration check, it was determined that both suspects had been staying in the country without a residence permit since September 30, 2023.
Police stated that the investigation into all suspects was completed and requested that they be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 20 days.
