Students reported for making noise arrested for living illegally in north Cyprus
They had no resident permit but were causing public disturbance.
Two people were arrested for living in north Cyprus without a resident permit after a neighbor's complaint to the police that too much noise was from out of their apartment located in Hamitköy.
The individuals, GIO and HA were arrested on Thursday January, 18 after being found to be living illegally in the country.
They were brought to the Lefkosia judicial court on Friday.
Police told the court that at around 11:00pm on January 18, 2024, they received a complaint from an apartment building in Hamitköy that there was too much noise.
Police went to the apartment in question and during the immigration check on the individuals who were spotted in front of the apartment, it was determined GIO has been living illegally in the country for 51 days and HA for 45 days.
Police stated that the necessary investigation was carried out regarding the suspects by the Immigration Department and requested that they be sent to prison.
The judge sent them to prison for a period not to exceeding 20 days.
