Student sent to prison for illegal residency in North Cyprus
A student was sent to prison by Turkish Cypriot authorities after he was found living illegally in north Cyprus.
The student, C.K.K, a Ghanaian was identified and arrested around 3:30pm on January, 15 during police check on Fazıl Küçük Street,in Kyrenia.
He was brought to court on January, 18 on charges of illegal residency.
Police said during the check on him, it was discovered that he has been living illegally in the country for 2,298 days since September 30, 2017.
Police stated that the suspect accepted the case brought against him.
The police stated that the suspect had no criminal record, had no legal ties to the country and that the investigation was completed, and requested that he be sent to prison.
The court ordered the suspect to be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 10 days until trial.
