Student injured after jumping from 3rd floor of apartment building to avoid arrest for living illegally in north Cyprus

A student jumped from the 3rd floor of an apartment building in Famagusta while trying to escape from after sighting the police who were there to carry out resident permit control. The incident happened on Monday evening when police teams arrived the premises to carry out residence permit control against individuals. 

Police said the suspect "jumped from the 3rd floor" of the apartment building where he was staying to escape the residence permit control after noticing the police.

The student in question was injured following the jump. He was taken to the Famagusta State Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

It was determined that the person in question "had no residence permit".  

A total of 4 people, including the injured person, were identified and arrested for "residing without a residence permit" in Famagusta.
