North Cyprus government warns residents not to go out tonight due to flooding as a result of heavy rain
The TRNC Council of Ministers on Tuesday called on residents to stay indoors this night due to possible floods across the country as a result of heavy rain.
The decision was made at the meeting of the Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
The measures and preparations taken against possible floods and emergencies that may occur in the TRNC due to the adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall in the north of the island were evaluated.
At the meeting where the decisions of the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Committee were evaluated, it was decided that the district police boards would be on duty 24/7 until normal weather conditions returned and education in some educational institutions would be suspended, in order to address the risks that may arise against possible floods and floods in the districts.
Making a statement after the meeting, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel made the following statements:
"We have mobilized all state institutions in a coordinated manner to protect the life safety of our citizens.
Police boards in all districts will be on duty 24 hours a day. In areas at risk of floods and floods, the capacity of the Civil Defense Organization, fire brigade, municipalities, police and district governorships has been increased. We decided that these institutions will operate 24/7 until the weather conditions return to normal.
The report card distribution planned to be held tomorrow in all educational institutions within Kyrenia District Borders and Tatlısu Primary School has been postponed by our Ministry of National Education. These schools will be closed tomorrow. Report card distributions in these schools will take place at a later date to be announced by the Ministry of National Education.
At the same time, as the Council of Ministers, we advise our people not to go out tonight unless it is necessary.
Natural events and disasters affect the TRNC, like the whole world. However, we have to take all the precautions we can to prevent these disasters from turning into disasters. "Not only as a state, but also as a people, we must act with this awareness of responsibility and take into account the warnings made according to the opinions of experts."
