KIB-TEK staff stole cables of the facility in Kyrenia, sold them for over 100,000 TL

Two employees of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Corporation (KIB-TEK) were at the weekend arrested for stealing approximately 700 kg of bare cable and 180 kg of lanyards from its facility in Kyrenia.

According to police statement on the matter, the incident occurred on Thursday, January 18.

Approximately 700 kg of bare cable kept in a locked container in the facility belonging to Kıb-Tek on Cumhuriyet Street in Kyrenia, were stolen after the lock was broken and damaged. A bare cable weighing 180 kg and a neck tie weighing 180 kg were stolen.

In the further investigation carried out after the incident came to the notice of the police, Kıb-Tek employees S.Ç., 54 and H.Ö., 43, who were considered suspects in the matter, were arrested.

During the further investigation, it was determined that the suspects obtained money fraudulently by selling the stolen cables to a scrap dealer for 103,000 TL.

The police investigation into the incident continues.
