Greek man who said Turks should leave Cyprus that Cyprus is Greece to be deported by north Cyprus authorities

A Greek citizens who entered north Cyprus from south Cyprus and started shouting that Turks should leave the island because it is Greece has been detained by Turkish Cypriot authorities.

Theodoros Lazariotis, a Greek citizen entered north Cyprus via the Lokmacı Land Crossing Gate in Lefkosia at around 11:15am on Wednesday, January, 18.

He was at Arasta Street in Lefkosia when he started shouting the slogan "Cyprus, Russia and Greece are brothers, Turks out, this is Greece". 

He was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police and taken to the Lefkosia District Court on charges of "battery", "disturbance" and "inappropriate attitude and behavior".

Police in a court statement said the suspect tried to punch a person from a distance. He hit him, beat him and said loudly: "Cyprus, Russia and Greece are brothers. Police said he caused public disturbance by shouting "Turks, get out, this is Greece". 

Police stated that an investigation was launched against the suspect, who was arrested after the incident. 

Police stated that the neighborhood security camera footage was examined, it was seen that the suspect beat many people whose identities have not yet been determined, and that these people will be found and their statements will be taken. 

The police also stated that they would write to the Immigration Office to deport the suspect from the country and asked for 3 days detention period.
