Deported man re-enter north Cyprus illegally

A man who was deported from north Cyprus in 2017 was found to have illegally entered the country again in November, 2023. 

The man, YH, a Turkish national was identified and arrested during the search operation carried out by the Crime Prevention Branch team between 3.00pm and 3.20pm on January 10, 2024, in an apartment building located on Mustafa Çağatay Street in Kyrenia, on Wednesday

It was determined that he entered the TRNC illegally from Kyrenia Tourism Port on 29 November 2023, although he was deported from the country on January 16, 2017.

Police stated that the suspect gave a voluntary statement and admitted his crime. 

The suspect was brought before the Kyrenia District Court twice on January 11 and 12, 2024 and a detention order for a total of 6 days was issued against him.

The police announced that during this period, an investigation was conducted by the Immigration Department and the entry-exit records and permit records of the suspect were determined.

The police officer also said that the camera footage was examined over a period of 6 days and the suspect's statement was investigated. The police officer stated that the investigation was completed and requested that the suspect who entered the country illegally be sent to prison.

The judge who evaluated the matter in court, ordered the suspect to be sent to prison for a period not exceeding one month.
