239 individuals repatriated from Cyprus in January
A total of 239 individuals, who resided illegally in Cyprus (south), were repatriated during the last week.
The deportation was carried out between January 19th to 26th, according to the Police.
Greek Cypriot police in a statement said since the beginning of 2024, 814 individuals who resided illegally in Cyprus have been repatriated through forced and voluntary return procedures.
According to the same data, in 2023, 9,699 third-country nationals were repatriated.
It is added that on Thursday night, 16 foreign nationals departed from Larnaca Airport under the escort of members of the Aliens and Immigration Service, as part of a joint return operation in which the Cyprus Police participates, organized by the French Police under the coordination of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) for the return of third-country nationals residing illegally in the European Union.
