University staff steals money and gadgets belong to the university in north Cyprus

 
A university staff who stole money and gadgets belonging to the university operating in Famagusta has been detained by Turkish Cypriot police.

The suspect, named only as Y.C., 46, who worked at the Cyprus West university operating in Famagusta as a financial affair manager, committed the theft between September, 12 and December, 07, 2023.

He was arrested on Thursday and taken to a Famagusta court.

Police said she stole four mobile phones and a laptop purchased on behalf of the university and a total of 3,000 USD and 350,058 TL belonging to his workplace by transferring them to his own bank account. 

Police said the suspect who gave a statement denied the accusations.

The court detained him for one day for more investigation to be carried out on the matter.
