Third suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Turkish Cypriot woman in North Cyprus

 
One person of African origin has been identified and arrested in connection with the murder of Turkish Cypriot woman which took place on Friday at a business operating at the Lefkosia city center.

The body of the deceased woman, Ayça Alav, 45 was discovered at her place of work named HİT BİT, a crypto exchange company located on Mevlevi Tekke Street in the Lefkosia city center, at around 9:00pm on Friday, Dec., 22.

Two people, F.L.D, 31, a Cameroonian and S.H, 31, a Pakistan national, were later identified and arrested in connection with the murder.

On Monday, December, 25, Turkish Cypriot police announced one more person was arrested within the scope of the investigation into the murder.

It was revealed that the suspect named URK, a Zimbabwean, has been living illegally in north Cyprus.

Giving details in court, the police said that during the immigration control of the suspect, it was determined that he had been in the north of Cyprus without a residence permit for a total of 450 days, since September 30, 2022.

Police said investigation will be conducted into whether the suspect is connected to the murder, where and how he stayed during his unauthorized residence, and whether he committed any crime.

The police noted that the suspect could affect the investigation if he was released and requested that he be detained for one day.
