North Cyprus police and Social Services Department denies report that a foreign woman threw her 2-month-old baby into the trash in Dikmen

The TRNC Director of the Social Services Department, has denied that the department picked up a two-month-old baby thrown into the trash in Dikmen as insinuated by the public.

Director of the Social Services Department, Alev Ecevit, in a statement on Thursday underlined that the news that a 2-month-old baby was thrown into the trash in the Lavinium Site in the Dikmen region and was taken by the Social Services Department was false, and emphasized that such an incident was reported neither to the police nor to them.

News broke out this week that a 2-month-old baby was thrown into the trash in the Lavinium Site in the Dikmen region and the baby was taken by the Social Services Department.

Ecevit emphasized that he met with the authorized police officers and they confirmed that no such incident took place.

The police also denied the allegations that "a baby was thrown into the garbage container" in Kyrenia Bosphorus.

Police in a statement, stated that after the matter was reported to the police, the crime scene was visited by the police and investigated meticulously.

It was emphasized that "In addition to requesting for the necessary environmental testimony, the garbage containers on the site were emptied and the necessary searches were carried out and no such incident was found." 

In the further investigation, the foreign woman who allegedly threw her baby in the trash was personally identified by the police at her residence and was found with her baby. It was stated that the baby was seen in a healthy condition.
