Man caught with drugs hidden in underwear at Ercan Airport in North Cyprus

A foreign national who had tried to smuggle drugs into the TRNC by hiding it in his underwear was caught by the police at Ercan Airport.

The suspect, named only as B.Y, 38, a Turkish national was arrested on Tuesday afternoon at Ercan Airport after he was caught with drugs on his arrival.

Police in a statement said; in the search carried out on the belongings and belongings of the suspect, who came from Turkey at noon on Tuesday and entered the north of Cyprus from Ercan Airport, police found approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine wrapped in a piece of transparent nylon, hidden in the underwear he was wearing. The suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto and an investigation was launched against him.

He was taken to court after the incident.

Police told the court that the suspect was arrested for the crimes of importing and handling the "illegal drug" "methamphetamine".

Noting that the drug substance would be sent for analysis and that the investigation was continuing, the police requested that the suspect be detained for 2 days.
