Man defrauds 3 three individuals of €53,000 in car scam in Cyprus
A man who pretended to be a vehicle importer in Paphos, Cyprus has managed to deceive and defraud three people, receiving a total of €53,000 from them before disappearing.
The fraud was reported to the police by three individuals aged 30, 35, and 61. They said he presented himself as a car salesman.
Greek Cypriot police said they consider the suspect to be a 31-year-old man, a permanent resident of Cyprus and have issued an arrest warrant against him.
The complainants stated that in May and June of this year, on separate occasions, they handed over a total of €53,000 to a 31-year-old.
The three complainants had contacts with the individual to import specific cars from abroad on their behalf.
As time passed without any updates on their transactions, and the prospective buyers were unable to locate the 31-year-old, they turned to the police.
Police investigations revealed that the 31-year-old had left Cyprus, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Authorities are actively seeking his whereabouts.
